Hello Dr. Samuel,

How is electron relaxation time calculated from the electron linewidth output in epw code?

Dear Ericmoore,

The inverse of the relaxation time is twice the Imaginary part of the electron self-energy.

Roxana

Hello Dr. Roxane,

Thank you for your reply. I understand what you said but in the linewidth.elself file, there are several values. Is the electron self-energy the average of all the values in this file, or there is something I am missing? Thanks for your help.

Cheers,

Ericmoore

Hello,

If iverbosity=3, the last column in linewidth.elself file is the electron self_energy Sigma(ibnd, imode,ik) for each k-point (ik), band (ibnd), and phone mode (imode), otherwise is the self-energy Sigma(ibnd,ik) for each k-point and band. In the second cases it was summed over all phonon modes. To get a better idea you these things are calculated you can take a look at the selfen_elec.f90 file.

Best,
Roxana
